George Russell’s triumph at the Canadian Grand Prix brought joy to Mercedes, but Team Principal Toto Wolff emphasized that it does not influence the pecking order within the team. Wolff highlighted that Russell has always been capable of strong performances, and this win reinforces his known potential.
Despite the win, Wolff insisted the team must remain grounded and focused on consistency. Both Russell and Hamilton continue to have the full backing of the team as they push forward into the summer races.
“We know he can perform,” said Wolff. “This doesn’t change anything in terms of our overall driver plans. What we need is to keep the momentum and develop a car that allows both drivers to fight at the front consistently.”
